Official requirements
- JPG/JPEG, vertical (portrait) orientation, at least 600 × 750 px
- File size between 50 KB and 10 MB
- Clear, in focus, in colour, not mirrored or flipped, not edited
- Plain, light-coloured background with clear contrast to you
- Head, shoulders, and upper body all visible — don't crop your source photo
- Head 29–34 mm crown to chin (about 46–54% of the 600 × 750 digital image height; clear gap above the head)
- Face towards the camera; eyes open, visible, and looking straight
- Plain expression with mouth closed; no hair in front of eyes
- Nothing covering your face
- No shadows on face or background; no red eye
- No head covering (except for religious or medical reasons)
- Photo taken within the last month — a new photo is required for every application, even if your appearance hasn't changed

Is this an official UK Government site?
No. We are an independent photo compliance tool and are not affiliated with the UK Home Office or UK Visas and Immigration. We produce photos formatted to UKVI's published digital photo standard; final acceptance is at the caseworker or visa application centre's discretion.
What digital format does UKVI require?
JPG or JPEG, vertical orientation, at least 600 pixels wide by 750 pixels tall, between 50 KB and 6 MB. The photo must not be mirrored or flipped. We deliver exactly 600 × 750 px so it meets the minimum dimensions with no need to upscale.
How long does the whole flow take?
Most users finish in 3–5 minutes: a quick live camera capture, a free pre-check, payment, then 3–4 minutes of background processing. We email you when your photo is ready, so you don't have to wait on the page.
What happens if my photo fails the pre-check?
You don't pay. The pre-check tells you exactly what failed (face position, expression, background, blur, etc.) so you can retake with the live camera guidance and try again. There's no charge until your photo passes.
Can I reuse an old UK visa or passport photo?
No. UKVI requires a new photo taken within the last month for every application, even if your appearance hasn't changed. Submitting an old photo (or the same photo across multiple applications) is grounds for rejection — biometric comparison expects a current image.
What if the visa application centre still rejects it?
Per our refund policy, if the photo fails for a compliance reason we missed, we'll reprocess it for free at no extra cost. Acceptance is ultimately at the caseworker's discretion, but our compliance check is calibrated to UKVI's published rules.
